This notice explains what Watermark Point Hotels Ltd does with personal information. It is written to the Privacy Act 2020 and its thirteen information privacy principles. It is not written to the GDPR, which does not apply to a New Zealand hotel serving New Zealand guests.
Who we are. Watermark Point Hotels Ltd, NZBN 9429047318265, of 41 Peninsula Road, Kelvin Heights, Queenstown 9300, Otago, New Zealand, trading as Watermark Point Hotel. We are the agency responsible for the information described here.

What we collect
- Booking and stay. Name, email address, telephone number, postal address, arrival and departure dates, number of guests, room preference, payment card details, and anything you tell us in order to be looked after properly — a dietary requirement, a mobility need, a cot.
- Enquiries. Whatever is entered in the form on this website, plus the time it was sent.
- Restaurant and bar. Name, contact details and the time of a table booking.
- Events. Contact details for the organiser, the organisation, delegate numbers and dietary requirements.
- Casino floor. Where identification is checked at the door, the document is inspected and not recorded. Where a self-exclusion is signed, the name, signature, term and, with consent, a photograph are held for the purpose of enforcing it.
- Closed-circuit television. Images in public areas of the building, including the entrance, the lobby, the car court and the gaming floor. Cameras are signposted. There are no cameras in guest rooms, bathrooms, changing rooms or treatment rooms.
- Website. With consent, anonymous analytics counts. Essential cookies hold your age confirmation and cookie choice. See the cookie notice.
Why we collect it
To answer an enquiry, hold and honour a booking, take payment, cook the right food, run an event, meet our obligations under the Gambling Act 2003 and the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012, keep the building and the people in it safe, and — only where you have ticked the box — to send occasional news about rates and packages.
We do not use personal information to build behavioural profiles, and we do not make automated decisions about guests.
Who sees it
- Our own staff, limited to those who need it for the task in front of them.
- Our property management system and email providers, both of which store data in New Zealand or Australia under contract.
- Our payment processor. Full card numbers are never stored on our systems.
- A named third party where you have asked us to arrange something — a transfer, a cellar-door day, a water taxi — and then only the detail that party needs.
- The Department of Internal Affairs, the Police, or another agency, where the law requires disclosure.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not pass it to anyone for their own marketing.
How long we keep it

| Marketing list | Until you unsubscribe | Reviewed every two years |
| CCTV | 31 days | Overwritten, unless held for an incident |

Keeping it safe
Systems are access-controlled and password-protected, with two-factor authentication on administrative accounts. Paper records are held in a locked office. Staff are briefed on privacy at induction. Where a privacy breach causes serious harm or is likely to, we notify the Office of the Privacy Commissioner and the people affected, as the Privacy Act requires.
Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you may ask what personal information we hold about you, and ask for it to be corrected if it is wrong. Write to [email protected] or to Watermark Point Hotels Ltd, 41 Peninsula Road, Kelvin Heights, Queenstown 9300, Otago, New Zealand. We reply within twenty working days. There is no charge unless a request is unusually large, in which case we will say so before doing the work.
You may withdraw marketing consent at any time, by using the unsubscribe link or by telling any member of staff.
Children
The hotel welcomes children and holds their details only as part of a family booking. The Walter Peak Room is restricted to people aged 20 and over, and no marketing is directed at anyone under that age.
Complaints
Raise it with us first, at [email protected]. If you are not satisfied with how we handle it, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner, which is free and independent, at privacy.org.nz or on 0800 803 909.
