What is step-free, what is not, and what we can arrange with notice. If something here is wrong or missing, tell us and it gets fixed.

Arriving

  • Two accessible parking bays beside the main entrance, 4.8 m wide, under cover, marked and enforced.
  • The path from the car court to the entrance is sealed, level and 1.8 m wide, with no kerb to cross.
  • The main entrance has automatic sliding doors, 1.6 m clear.
  • Reception has a lowered counter section at 760 mm.
  • A portable ramp is kept at the desk for the single step onto the north terrace.

Rooms

  • Four accessible rooms: two Garden Rooms on the ground floor and two Bay Rooms on the first.
  • Doorways 900 mm clear; turning circles of 1.5 m beside the bed and in the bathroom.
  • Roll-in showers with a fold-down seat and grab rails on both sides.
  • Raised toilet seats, lever taps and lowered wardrobe rails.
  • Visual and vibrating fire alarms, and a pull cord beside the bed and in the bathroom.
  • Beds 580 mm high with clearance underneath for a hoist. A hoist can be hired locally with 48 hours of notice.
  • All four are on the fire service’s assisted-evacuation list, which is checked at every drill.

Accessible rooms are held back from general availability until seven days before arrival, so a guest who needs one is not competing for it with someone who does not.

Getting around the building

  • One lift serves all four floors, car 1.4 m by 1.1 m, with braille and voice announcement.
  • All three hire spaces, The Greenstone Room, The Von Bar, The Closeburn Pools and The Walter Peak Room are reachable step-free by lift.
  • Accessible toilets on the ground floor beside the lobby and on the first floor beside The Rees Room.
  • Hearing loops in The Dart Room, The Rees Room and at the reception counter.
  • Corridors are 1.5 m wide with contrasting skirtings and even lighting.

The pools

  • Step-free from the lift to the pool deck.
  • A pool hoist for the lap pool, operated by a trained member of staff on request.
  • Handrails on both sets of steps into the lap pool.
  • One accessible changing room with a bench and a roll-in shower.
  • The two outdoor hot pools have steps with a rail, but no hoist. This is the one part of the floor we cannot make step-free, and we would rather say so than let you find out on arrival.

Eating and the casino floor

  • Tables in The Greenstone Room at 720 mm clearance, with space held near the entrance on request.
  • Menus in large print at the desk, and the kitchen will read a menu over the telephone before you arrive.
  • Two gaming machines on the floor are set at seated-access height with clear approach on both sides.
  • Table games have space for a wheelchair at two of the six tables.
  • Assistance dogs are welcome everywhere in the building, including the gaming floor and the restaurant.

This website

Built to meet WCAG 2.1 level AA as far as we can verify without a formal audit. Pages use real headings in order, text alternatives on meaningful images, form labels tied to their fields, a visible focus outline, and colour contrast checked against the AA ratio. The site works with the keyboard alone and at 200 per cent zoom, and it reflows to a single column at 320 pixels.

The photographs on the home page change by themselves every six seconds. A Pause button sits in the bottom left corner of that banner; it takes the keyboard as well as the mouse, and if your device is set to reduce motion the pictures do not change at all and no button appears.

Known gap: one decorative element in the banner has no text alternative, because it carries no information. It is on the list for the next revision.

No formal accessibility audit has been carried out. Saying otherwise would be easy and untrue.
