01 — The hotel
Welcome to Watermark Point
64 rooms and suites on the Kelvin Heights peninsula, eight kilometres round the water from central Queenstown and nine minutes from the airport. A restaurant, a bar, heated pools, three hire spaces and a casino floor, all inside one building.
The site at 41 Peninsula Road held a lodge from 1988. We took the lease in 2016, stripped the building back to its frame, added a floor and opened as Watermark Point Hotel in 2017. Everything faces north across Frankton Arm, which is why the rate sheet is arranged by outlook rather than by floor.
Casino entertainment is one part of what the hotel offers, not the reason it exists. The Walter Peak Room is a single room off the lobby, open to guests and visitors aged 20 and over, on the premises and nowhere else.
02 — Rates
Five room types, and what separates them
Rates below are the lowest published nightly rate for two adults, including breakfast, parking, the pools and GST. They rise in the ski season and over the New Year period, and the enquiry form returns the exact figure for your dates.
The only difference between a Garden Room and a Bay Room is which way the window faces. Everything above that adds floor area, a balcony or a second room.

03 — On site
Everything under one roof
Each space here has a name, a size and a set of opening hours. Sizes and capacities are on the relevant page, so a conference organiser can check a room against a floor plan before writing to us.
04 — Casino
The Walter Peak Room, and how it is run
One room off the lobby: 34 gaming machines and 6 tables, open 12pm to 2am seven days. Blackjack, roulette, baccarat, three-card poker and Texas hold’em are dealt by staff trained on site. The machines are mostly modern video slots, with three classic reel cabinets kept because guests keep asking for them.
Entry is by photo identification, 20 and over, with a dress standard of smart casual after 6pm. There are no cash machines on the gaming floor and none are planned. A clock is visible from every table. The floor closes at 2am whether or not the room is busy.
Play happens in the room, in person. There is no application, no account and no way to stake money through this website.

06 — Otago
Getting here, and getting about
Kelvin Heights sits on the far side of Frankton Arm from the town centre. By road that is 8.1 km and about twelve minutes. From the jetty at the end of Peninsula Road the water taxi crosses to Queenstown Bay in roughly ten minutes, which is the way most guests go in for dinner.
